KopiO literally means black coffee with sugar. The word "Kopi " is a Malay term for coffee, the "O" is Hokien (Chinese dialect ) for Black. It is commonly served at traditional coffee shops called kopitiam found all over Southeast Asia. Especially Malaysia and Singapore,
Kopitiam embrace a feeling of culture, time and tradition. Hainanese migrants have been credited with introducing the kopitiam culture to Malaysia and Singapore and are now we bring it to Calistoga.
In honor of our Hainanese ancestors, we wish to make KopiO a place for guests from all walks of life to gather around to enjoy eating, drinking and casual chatting about the lastest news.
Visiting KopiO is a trip down memory lane for those who have traveled to or resided in Southeast Asian countries. Sweet memories of sipping a hot cup of Malaysian KopiO or Ten Tank ( pulled tea ), savoring Curry Laksa ( famous Malaysian coconut based curry noodle soup ), snaking on Satay Chicken ( skewered chicken served with peanut sauce ) or enjoying Char Kueh Teow ( stir-fried flat noodle with dried turnip and egg served from street carts ) may lead to feelings of yesteryear.
